Only two acceptable standards of shutters will be approved by the Board of Directors

Request Form for Hurricane Shutters

The following explanation describes the intentions of the Board of Directors to help unit owners choose and purchase hurricane shutters for their units.  All of us have a right to install hurricane shutters on our windows and doors for our protection but our plans must conform to a simple standard as described below.:

1.  Extruded Aluminum Accordion Shutters 4.186" blade.   (On sliding glass doors)

• Accordion shutters may be installed against sliding glass doors only.

• Designed at 105 P.S.F.

• Header frame to be .0125" thick extruded aluminum 6063-T6.

• Floor shoe to be .00125" thick extruded aluminum 6063-T6.

• .050" extruded aluminum 6063-T6 blades are to be 4.186" wide.

• Blade pins to be #14 x 3.00" machine screws manufactured from 410 stainless steel with fluorocarbon coating and .050" diameter x 1.000" long Celcon bushing.

• Stainless steel wheel carriages, with nylon wheels, assure smooth long lasting operation.

• Blades to be attached to .062" centermates of 6063-T6 aluminum that, when locked c form a 6.000" locking structure.

• Locking pins to be Two .050"solid aluminum rods for each centermate, protruding through the header and still and remain attached to the shutter at all times.  Pins are adjusted by means of thumb screws.

• T-Handle keyed-lock with brass tumblers and chrome finish.

• 2" Removable bottom tracks are available.

• Step-3tm Electrostatic Paint Process, .08 mil. minimum coating thickness, on all aluminum surfaces.

• Standard colors is white.

• Only products equal to Rolladen, Inc. #ACCB are acceptable.

2.  Extruded Aluminum Rolling Shutters:  (Installed on any glass openings)

• Shutters are to be installed at glass openings.

• No shutters are to be installed, either interior or exterior, against screens of balconies.

• P.V.C. shutters are not permitted.

• 2" x 5" x 1/8" stainless steel mounting brackets and 5" x 5" x 1/8th stainless steel adjustable plates.

• Complete seamless aluminum reels, coupled with aluminum 6063-T6 alloy shaft housing and 5/8" solid shaft, supported by stainless steel roller saddles.

• Drive gears to be stainless steel worm drive, permanently lubricated, with cast aluminum housing.

• Crank handles to be aluminum, with stainless steel joints.  Removable handles are available.

• Only brand new motors, when included, are to be used.

• Manual overrides, in case of power failure, must be used on all motors.

• Licensed electricians are to provide all necessary electrical hook-ups.

• Hoods are one piece .036" heavy gauge aluminum, smooth finish.

• Die cast aluminum end caps may not be used.

• .050" double wall slats, extruded in the U.S.A., of 6063-T6 aluminum are non-vented (do not have perforated slots to allow light in) for maximum strength and security.  Vented slats are available and may be used.

• Interlocking system, each slat is roll crimped lift and right sides to each other, virtually preventing the slats from jamming in the hood area and when entering the side tracks.

• 2" left and right side tracks.

• Step 3TM Electrostatic Paint Process, .08 mil. minimum coating thickness, on all aluminum surfaces.

• Standard colors is white.

• Only products equal to Rolladen, Inc.  #1116 are acceptable.

• Accordion shutter equal to Rolladen, Inc. #ACCB may be substituted at sliding glass doors only.
